Ladbrokes approaches Betdaq for betting exchange deal.
According to Telegraph 8th January 2012 the chief executive of Ladbrokes, Richard Glynn, has approached Betdaq owner Dermot Desmond in an attempt to buy their “pricing and trading skills of a peer-to-peer betting exchange”. It is not thought that Ladbrokes are looking to buy Betdaq but are looking to reach a deal with the betting exchange technology. Betting exchanges have been a thorn in the side of conventional bookmakers since their introduction at the beginning of the 21st Century, and Ladbrokes were amongst those who supported William Hill’s attempts to urge the government to ban them. It was argued that betting exchanges allow their users to take bets without a licence.
